Baku Int’l Short Film Festival awards Iranian ‘Elders’

The 10th Baku Int’l Short Film Festival in Azerbaijan awards Iranian title.

The 10th Baku International Short Film Festival in Azerbaijan has awarded Iranian title.

Co-directed by Ramin Farzaneh and Parisa Sedaee-Azar, ‘Elders’ attended the fiction category of the Baku event and succeeded to receive the Diploma of the Audiences Sympathy at the gala.

According to an earlier report, the Diploma of the Cinema Center of Young Cinematographers was also bestowed to Iranian short animation ‘Parivash’ by Ameneh Monshizadeh. The animation vied at the Animation section of the festival.

Behnam Assadollahi’s ‘The Heavy Shadows of the Crow’ was the other Iranian title in competition at the fiction category.

Iran filmmaker Karim Azimi was one of the jurors at this year’s edition of the festival.

This year, the event held its 10th edition and films from Egypt, Sweden, Germany and Russia were in attendance.

The Baku International Short Film Festival was established in 2004 with the aim to become a reputable creative competition in the region.

As put by the Baku festival’s official website, its goal is “to review and discuss films, to select the best ones and reach a wide audience, to familiarize local authors with international practices and trends. In addition, the festival provides an opportunity for local directors to establish contacts with their foreign colleagues.”

The event was held on November 6-9, 2019.
